I here all the time there should be blacks represented in comics and manga. Then comes the stock answer " we have to make our own". Black people have been making their own comics for a long time. only way we can actually make a difference in the industry is by buying them.

The people of color community has more buying power and financial influence than ever and we are not collectively exercising it. If we want industries to pay attention to us then we have to show it with how we spend our money.

France!?!?

Well, I had written another post about working for free as an artist as well as some post and links to resources and a few cool podcasts. But after what happened on Friday I thought talking about this is important.

If we have any french members I hope you and your family made it through all of this safely. For anyone who has no clue what's going on Google France, look at any social media or news outs top trending story.

There are political questions I could bring up and other thoughts and comments about the state of the world in general. But I don't think the day after 150 people lost their lives is time for that.

First off I am not claiming anything posed in the question, I want to see what you guys think.

Now I actually have some series issue with the game itself, I'll talk about that a little later, as of which seem to carry over into at least the trailer. In fantasy it seems the moment you ad an orc or a goblin, probably fairies as well, you are given license to leave out people of color. So we are basically replaced by monsters. No matter how cool you find them, they are in we are out.

I do expect some form of tokenism in the film, I also expect the bs argument of euro centric fantasy not including other ethnicities cause Europe during this time was white, and obviously had dragons and wizards.

To me blizzard has used race terribly in their game . don't believe play as a goblin start off in the swamp and listen to the horrible carribean stereotypes being played through these monsters. I fully expect this to carry over into the film.

I hope I am wrong.

there  going to start trying to pay attention more in here again. been spending most of my social networking time on Facebook and twitter talking about the state of black media with other creators. I am going to try and bring the news and updates and conversations going on at the other platforms over here, hoping to spark more activity.
