Haha, ok. So....you guys are fantastic for being so patient with me.
Here's some updates. In spirit of the past month, I think we'll work on that for our next theme. But you guys tell me, would you like to create on the theme of Black History, or something else?
**Please read**
Here's an update on some guidelines for the activities:
Now guys, the point of the exercises is for you to actually use your noggins and create something for the group. That said, I'm going to ask that all exercise submissions are created for the activity, and not just pulled from the back of your gallery.
I appreciate that you all have art that can at times apply to the theme, but please, actually be active and create for the group. I will no longer accept submissions that weren't created for the current theme.
Thanks for reading!
Exercise #5: Something old Something new
Do you have a really old character design that you haven't touched in ages? How about a concept of whatever sort that you dropped like a bad habit years/months ago?
Well here's my challenge to you! I want you to redesign and update those characters and concepts with the skills you now possess. If you would, please link to an old original drawing/picture/writing/whathaveyou so that we can all look and compare and talk about how we've grown as artists.
I'll be joining in on this one myself, so keep an eye out.
Black Artists' Vibe #6: Collaboration
The second activity this time around involves your cooperation with another person or persons in the group. So don't be shy! Talk it up with some folks. Take a look at the Membership List, find someone who's active, and send them a message asking for a collab. If you don't know what you want to do, it's cool. You could actually make this part of the activity tie in with the "heat" exercise and just put together something for that theme with someone.
I'm going to keep this up, because I don't think anyone collabed on anything! *glare*
Submissions!
Hypera by ~J-Mace -Oh yeayuh! First submission again for the new activity! This guy is on top of these activities! This is a great revamp, don't you guys think? Highfives for ~J-Mace!
ol sckool me by ~jayz146 -Gotta love a good ol self-based character.
Version 08: Simmone McCody by ~YoungC -Ok, so if you folks haven't figured out that I have an affinity towards furry folks, then you'll certainly know now! Haha! This is a fun drawing. Look at that hair!
BRR Hood Then and Now by ~dragoonx77 -This certainly isn't your storybook red riding hood!
BAN Ex:5 Then and Now June Bug by ~zhone14 -This is a serious bit of improvement! Wow! Excellent work ~zhone14!
Oldschool Revamp by ~too-unoriginal -
Not a Bird, Not a Plane by *bigmanhaywood -Ah yes, the hero of heroes. I'm not too sure where his past submission of Superman is, but it's a pretty great drawing none the less. Great work!
Flight by *Jaid-E-ternal -Yay! Two flying submissions in a row! I really enjoy this piece, because the character looks so graceful. Splendid work Jaid!
Kyria by *Kyttee -As I mentioned in the submission, I think that Kyttee is well on her way to some great work. Just keep on trying new things and learning new techniques, and you'll be a great artist.
Run Hero Run by ~Lillmissthang -I couldn't help but laugh at the first comment, because it does look like this hero was just whooped up on.
19 Mile Erection 2nd Impact by =TheBlackMarket -This is probably my favorite submission to the group so far. The dynamic pose and use of a limited color palette is rather impressive. And who can resist the awesomeness of evil puppies-bunny-things?You can now join each other in some dAmn chat here! You can also search for BANetwork, and that'll bring up the chatroom as well (I may be wrong...). I'll eventually go through and add those in our memberlist to the memberlist of the chatroom, so you'll have priveledges over that of a guest.
HOW DO I JOIN??
Please take a look at the rules, which can be found here. And remember: send notes, not comments!
Here's the member list! Look at the size of this group!!

The Parasol
I've always had an obsession with parasols and have always wanted to work one into a photograph. This is the first image I produced with my parasol - [Delicate Parasol], not very flattering looking back, and drawing a bit too hard on the gothic look. Years later I produced this - [Vulnerability]. I don't doubt that a considerable weight loss on my part allowed me to open up and widen the shot, giving it a more provocative, sensual feel.
Curves
Since I first joined DA, until present day I've lost a considerable amount of weight and gained a greater sense of confidence and belonging in my figure. At the start of my weight loss journey I created this - [Curves 2.0], a piece I still consider beautiful, but very segmented. Just last night, I produced this - [Shadow Play], yet another shot on a larger scale. I also managed to isolate the curvature of the figure by eliminating color all together and focusing on form. This shot also shows how I've grown in my lighting work, something I've struggled with since day one.
